A Magnificent French Model 1822 99 Light Cavalry Sword, signed on the back of the blade and arsenal marked with intricately detailed bronze hilt, originally, most probably, all mercury gilt now evaporated away. The Pommel and back strap of the hilt in the form of an Eagle with a molded five bar guard covered in foliate designs. A royal crown pommel escutcheon above a royal crown over what appears to be an "M. C."
